Oh, winter, the things you do to my skin. This is usually the time of year in which I’m frantically searching for scrubs, super-strength night creams, vats of olive oil…anything, really, to get my dry, irritated skin back in line.
All this to say that testing a new face cream in winter is…well, let’s just say it has a steep hill to climb.
But Kiehls‘ latest, their Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream (the name kind of says it all, no?), has swept in all stealth-like, and without fanfare, just made my skin happy. It goes on like silk, and it’s left my angry winter skin perfectly moisturized, with even a bit of a glow (a nice change from the usual dustbowl pallor I’d typically be sporting in January). And yes, as promised, things seem smoother and more…under control, I suppose.
Packed with important-sounding ingredients like copper, calcium and apricot kernel oil (copper is where it’s at for skincare these days, I’m telling you), I’m fairly convinced it’s the healthiest thing my skin has seen in ages. I’ve even managed to skip foundation on occasion, something that never happens during the winter months.
Nab the original or the SPF 30 version (I opted for the original, and am dutifully applying my Clarins SPF 40 on top – sunscreen in the winter is a serious business, people) for a totally reasonable $52.
