last chance! 4 things you’ll wish you’d bought when the nordstrom anniversary sale ends sunday

Psst…Looking for details on the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I’ve got the scoop right here. |

It’s nearly over, friends! Those delicious Nordstrom Anniversary Sale prices end this Sunday, when things go back to…gasp!…full price. Possibly my two least favorite words in the English language. (Well, right after “moist”.)

Though I’m sure you’ve already found a few new things that are making you long for sweater weather, I couldn’t let the last couple of Sale days go by without making sure you’d nabbed a few of my personal favorites:

1. Flared jeans. Now, I’m not suggesting you go crazy with a ’70s Farah Fawcett sort of thing. But a nice, clean flare like these (or possibly these) is going to serve you so well this fall when, I promise you, you’ll hit a point (probably right around the holiday season) when your skinnies just seem like a lot of work, and all of the models in the magazines are wearing flares, and you’re annoyed that now you have to buy a pair at full price.

2. Those boots you’ve been eyeing. New boots for fall are the grown-up equivalent of a new backpack and lunchbox. They make you feel more prepared, more suitably armed for the days ahead. And the problem is that most of those boots won’t go on sale until at least October, possibly not until after Christmas. That’s three whole months of missed boot-wearing opportunities! So, as much as I hate those internet-isms, this one happens to be true: Life is short. Buy the shoes. (Or be practical and buy these ones.)

3. A new scarf. Man, are there some scarf bargains in the Sale this year! On my first pass, nothing really wowed, but then I realized that it was because so many of the designs are more subtle than would typically catch my eye…which isn’t a bad thing, especially on those days when accessory decisions just seem way too hard. This one is almost certainly coming home with me, especially at that price. And really, how often can you find a Burberry scarf this cute and on sale?

4. A curl-up-in-it cozy sweater. Let’s just say I didn’t have a difficult time with this one (despite all of the ponchos, fringed and calf-length options this year). If you are, may I suggest you reconsider this or this, and certainly this? I’m also considering going back for this, just because buying one thing that at least vaguely resembles form-fitting would probably make my hubs very happy.

There! Now, if nothing else, you have a perfect First Day of Fall look just waiting in your closet. And trust me, when that first crisp morning arrives, when that scent of leaves and fireplaces is in the air, you’re going to be just as giddy to pull these out of your closet as you were on your first day of 4th grade.

As for me, since I did a pretty solid job of picking up…well, let’s just say more than my fair share of boots and sweaters, I’m diving back in this weekend for jeans and bras. Because honestly, the price of bras infuriates me more than a little bit, so I’m ethically compelled to buy them only on sale.

Oh, and of course…don’t forget the sunscreen. (All of the beauty exclusives, really…it’s an extraordinary crop this year.)

Anything you’re going back for this weekend, friends? Show me those shopping carts!

I just received the puffy coats and ended up going with the Bernardo over the Shelli Segal – the SS was pretty tight across the chest. Plus! You can’t really see this in the photos but the Bernardo has more concentrated quilting on the sides, which is a really nice feature that reduces bulk in the underarm area. I think it’ll be perfect this winter 🙂
