currently coveting: lariat necklaces

Much as I love a good statement necklace, my day-to-day wear definitely leans more delicate than daring. So I’m thrilled to see that lighter, sweeter styles are making the rounds these days. Particularly these lariat styles, which have the bonus of feeling like a fresh alternative to the usual pendant fare, but still provide all that “wear every day” delicacy I’m after. Plus, let’s be honest: a little cleavage-enhancing accoutrement never hurt a girl.

So many have popped up on my radar lately, I couldn’t resist sharing my favorites.

Ariel Gordon diamond lariat / Jennifer Zeuner “Love” lariat / Zoe Chicco Pave V lariat

Aren’t they just divine? My girl Ariel Gordon nailed the classic version, which can be customized with any two stones – though honestly, the all-diamond option is too divine to tamper with. It just doesn’t get any better. I love that it’s delicate enough to pair with nearly anything, since I can definitely see this beauty getting daily wear at my house.

Jennifer Zeuner is heavy into lariats right now, and they’re all goodies. In fact, she has so many options, I almost couldn’t choose a favorite for this piece (see, eg, this diamond star version, which is completely wonderful). But this “Love” style is so original and fun, it had to come out on top. I’d wear it with a casual crewneck tee,so the letters really stand out.

And then, just when I thought these couldn’t be topped, I fell hard for an Instagram from the amazing Zoe Chicco. I was over the moon when she told me she was just about to debut it…along with a brand-spanking new website (fair warning: it is dangerously good). This style has a bit of an Art Deco vibe, maybe a wink and a nod to Gatsby, but it’s still thoroughly modern and unbelievably wearable. I’m envisioning this beauty dripping down from the neckline of a sexy wrap dress. Talk about turning heads!

What do you think? Painful as it would be to choose, I think I might have a favorite. What’s yours?

get gifting: mother’s day

I was lucky enough to end up with one of the very best moms (no, don’t even try to argue!). So, I really look forward to scouring the WWWs each year for the best Mother’s Day gifts my fictional fortune can buy. Some of these are splurges I only dream of treating my mom to, but others are so inexpensive ($4!) and so thoughtful (flowers!), it’s a snap to show her how fantastic I think she is. Read on

eye candy (and a steal!): ariel gordon

Time for a bit more eye candy…I just can’t help myself. Ariel Gordon is a long-time favorite of mine (I have one of her initial necklaces, and it’s a treasure), and she recently released her Fall 2011 lookbook. Love it for the jewelry, the styling or the photography…whatever your reason, I’m completely confident there will be love.

What did I tell you? The gumball-sized lapis necklace in that top photo has been haunting my dreams since I first laid eyes on it. Ditto for that crescent moon charm, which is so sentimental to me, I really may have to find a way.

Fortunately, most of her pieces (lapis gumball notwithstanding) are actually really reasonable for fine jewels. Especially when you factor in an exclusive 25% discount Ariel’s offering to ShoppingsMyCardio junkies readers! The code is CARDIO, and it’s good until June 17. Go forth and splurge!

random friday finds: the happy edition

i’m in a fantabulous mood this friday, dear readers – my parents are headed to town, and i have so many goodies planned!  wine tasting, loads of good food, and a couple of shopping stops i know my mom will adore.  should be a great weekend.

plus, it happens to be the birthday of one of my very dear friends and my first official shoppingsmycardio devotee.  that deserves some celebration, don’t you agree?  since this particular dear friend is the ultimate “eternal optimist” (and since her card is late), i thought i’d throw together a few of my favorite “happy” finds i’ve come across on the web this week in her honor.  i hope they bring a smile to your face…and to hers!

yep, that’s right, there’s a new man in town on the tea towel circuit, and since no one does graphics quite like the talented mr. adler, i’m all aflutter!  could i have one of each, please?  hey, at $12 each, they’re by far the most affordable JA splurge you’ll encounter.  wait…oh lordie, he has a new penguin too.  and a dachsund….oh my!

i know, socks in the summer seem a little off.  but these appropriately-dubbed “happy socks” just launched over at steven alan are just that. hey, we all need something to let the moisturizer soak into our tortured, flip-flop-wearin’ feet, right?  plus, in the evening, when my hubs turns the a/c up, i feel a little silly wearing uggs in july.

and, how’s this for happy?  i got the most exciting note last night from the gals at the bright side project that i’d won that gorgeous initial necklace from designer ariel gordon!  the internet is so, so awesome.  seriously, if you haven’t entered any of the giveaways at the bright side, why on earth not?

have a wonderful, happy weekend, everyone!
