Well friends, my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul this year was…um, injurious. Mostly to my UPS driver, who undoubtedly has some serious back issues after lugging this stack of boxes up my stairs. (And there are more scheduled to arrive tomorrow. This is why I shouldn’t shop after wine.)
Since the Sale officially opens tomorrow morning (technically, that’s tonight at 12:01 AM Pacific for you night owls/diehards), I thought now was the perfect time to give you my rundown of the best (and worst) of my haul this year! Read on →
Editor’s Note: If you’re new to this scene, the Anniversary Sale is Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year. They cut deals with nearly every designer they stock to get an early shipment of Fall 2015 merchandise 6 weeks before any other retailer. Then, they mark the whole lot down 33-40%! That means you can score everything you need for fall without waiting for those October markdowns, but prices go back up on August 3, and the good stuff sells out fast. So, if you see something you love, nab it early! Remember, Nordstrom has the best return policy in the biz, and items sell out fast during the Sale. My Sale mantra: Buy now, edit later!
Happy Friday, friends! If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to, I managed a very neat trick last week involving a mandolin and two of my fingertips. Sadly, this particular variety of carnage doesn’t make typing (let alone photo layouts) an easy business. In fact, if I’m honest, I’m writing this post using one of those fancy dictation apps for my computer. Look out, Stephen Hawking.
Despite my temporary crippling, and without jumping onto my soapbox about the modern “friends & family” (which roughly translates to “anyone with access to Google”), I couldn’t let the day go by without sharing a few pretty fantastic F&F deals happening this weekend. Read on →
**UPDATE: Turns out, there’s even more F&F fun to be had this weekend at Joie and Equipment – keep reading for codes and deets!**
Happy Friday, friends! This weekend, I’ll be avoiding an unavoidable trip to IKEA like the plague, trying desperately not to bring home a puppy from the Bay Area Pet Fair, and getting in a much-needed mani/pedi/taco date with a dear friend. Not a bad weekend at all, I think.
Also, I suspect I’ll spend an abnormal amount of time obsessively perusing everything Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Joie and Equipment have to sell me, as they’re all having their Friends & Family sales this weekend! Obviously, I have all of the codes for you, plus plenty of picks to get your engines revved. Read on →
This morning, I put on my first scarf of the season, and I’ll admit – I was a little giddy about it. Sure, I love the patterns, the soft textures, the way they fall just so. But if I’m honest? Mostly, I’m excited because this brings me one day closer to the time of year when I can basically wear the same outfit every day. I add a different scarf and, not only does no one know, but I never fail to get compliments. I’m telling you, friends – get an arsenal of fall scarves together, and your wardrobe worries are history.
The trick with scarves is to go big and light – I’m talking huge, voluminous scarves with soft textures and stunning patterns. Why? Well first, the bigger the scarf, and the lighter the fabric, the easier it is to wear – just wrap copiously, and let the fabric drape the way it wants to. Next, look for big color and striking, intricate details. Adding color near your face makes you look younger – I swear, it’s true – and brings out your eyes in the way a grey cardigan sadly never will. Plus, when you’re wearing a work of art, the rest of the outfit just sort of blends seamlessly into the background. So, you can wear that black Vince tunic sweater three times in a week, and no one’s the wiser.
Sure, getting that oversized, light-as-air, gorgeously-patterned scarf often means a splurge…but I’ve snuck a few steals into the mix too. Read on →
Every girl needs one, right? A gorgeous little splash of red for those days when you just need a little something to pull a dreary ensemble together. It’s a wardrobe staple if ever there was one, and a completely perfect summer-to-fall transition piece. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. But I’m pretty sure I’m right about this…I mean, just look at these ladies: Read on →
I was lucky enough to end up with one of the very best moms (no, don’t even try to argue!). So, I really look forward to scouring the WWWs each year for the best Mother’s Day gifts my fictional fortune can buy. Some of these are splurges I only dream of treating my mom to, but others are so inexpensive ($4!) and so thoughtful (flowers!), it’s a snap to show her how fantastic I think she is. Read on →
