sneak peek: loeffler randall fall ’12

It’s a good day, friends…time to check out what’s new with Loeffler Randall for fall! Longtime readers know what a devoted fan I am of the brand, so I’m always giddy to see what they’ve cooked up for a new season.

Ready for a little coveting?

So, so good, right? I love that they’ve taken their infamous Matilde boot and added a bit of a heel. And all of that cap-toe action? Spectacular. My big decision in life right now is whether I can justify that Nanette bootie (the caramel with the black cap toe) and the Nadine cap-toe flat.

But I haven’t told you the best news yet. Designer Jessie Randall is back to bags! You might remember her handbag styles from several years back (the Hattie?), but she hasn’t designed a line of bags in ages. I’m thrilled to see her back at it, especially at some seriously remarkable price points (starting at $395!). A few of my favorites:

I’m completely torn between the three…how’s a girl to decide? Fortunately, she’s priced them so well, I suspect I could talk myself into at least two. If you’re in love too, these babies go on sale tomorrow, friends. Mark your calendars!

What do you think? Are you getting excited about fall yet?

styled alternatives: velvet’s marisha dress

Good morning, friends – I missed you last week! Though I tell you, it was a vacation sorely needed. But I’m back now, refreshed, and ready to get back to business. By which I mean copious amounts of online shopping, naturally.

I didn’t get a chance to tell you about my latest find before I checked out, but I’ve been wearing it nonstop, so it’s high time. Let me introduce you to Velvet by Graham & Spencer’s Marisha dress.

I am beyond picky about summer dresses. I adore them, but never ever find one that will suit my many requirements. I should have known to start with Velvet by Graham & Spencer…they just always seem to get it right, don’t you think?

Besides being head over heels for that Aztec-inspired print and the cheery coral hue, this beauty nails each and every summer rule of mine. Plus, I cannot tell you how many compliments I get when I wear it. It isn’t too short (miracle of miracles), and that fitted bodice/relaxed skirt combo is hands-down the most flattering style ever. Oh! And. It has wide straps and a lined skirt. For once, bra straps and VPL aren’t an issue.

I tell you, this dress is magic. Even the hubs has commented on it several times. (At one point, he actually said “You should get more dresses from that company.” Way ahead of you, buddy.)

Styling this baby is easy as pie. It also happens to be one of those rare summer dresses that you can actually wear to the office (you know, unless you’re trading stocks or trying cases). So, I’ve come up with a couple of my favorite ways to wear the Marisha at work and at play.

Work: Linen blazer, Olivia Moon, $88 / Raffia woven tote, Marni, $828 / Rope belt, the i heart boutique, $22 / Anja wedge, Loeffler Randall, $262 / Mix bead necklace, A Merry Mishap, $31

Weekend: Denim jacket, KUT, $69 / Oversized popcorn raffia clutch, Bop Basics, $78 / Leaf filigree cuff, Prismera Designs, $240 / Super Skinny green belt, ASOS, $10 / Andromeda flat, Belle by Sigerson Morrison, $225

And I’m just getting started! Coral is such a versatile shade, you could swap the blue blazer for navy, or even a bright yellow if you have dark skin. On the weekend, ditch the denim jacket in favor of a military style, a short-sleeved cardi or go bare. Change out the dainty belt for a chunkier style (I happen to love my Wood & Faulk version), switch up the jewelry ad infinitum (just steer clear of long necklaces…I don’t love the look when mixed with a belt). Be bold, and this dress will deliver all season.

sunshine on my soles: the best spring sandals so far

I’m jumping the gun, I know, but the sun is finally out today in Portland! Who can say how long it’ll last, but for today, I’m dreaming of a closet filled with pretty new spring sandals. Since I am generally loathe to spend big bucks on summer shoes, you’ll find some pretty fantastic cheap thrills mixed in here (along with one splurge so lovely, it’s the exception that proves the rule).

1. ASOS Field Trip, $29 / 2. Topshop Hunt, $50 / 3. Zara strappy sandal, $50 /
4. ASOS Fearne, $36 / 5. Loeffler Randall Fawn, $295

I think I’ve let all this sunshine go to my head…would you look at all that color?! Truly, though, if you’re going to go bold with color, footwear (and, for that matter, toe polish) is the perfect place to start.

On a related note, an open letter to Zara and ASOS: start offering your pretty, pretty shoes in size 11. Please. You’re killing me!

this just in: fall sale at loeffler randall!

Good morning, friends! How are you loving the guest writers this week? Fantastic, right? I’m in the midst of holiday workshop madness over here, but had to pop in this morning when I saw this news, guaranteed to make your Thursday brighter.

You see, Loeffler Randall’s fall sale has begun! So, so many lovelies, but my personal favorite is still that pair of Blaise haircalf loafers – I wear them all the time. They’re down to $228, a serious steal! You can also nab their signature tall rain boots for just $98 – that’s cheaper than a pair of Hunters, friends.

Come on, do it. You know you’ve been dying for a pair of Loefflers this season!

Sure, I’m an enabler….but I’m also right.

Once again, we enter the world of pre-season coveting with my all-time favorite, Loeffler Randall. Designer Jessie Randall has cooked up an unbelievable collection for Resort 2012…something tells me my own LR collection will be getting larger this season.

And then there’s the piéce de resistance…this beautiful Edith pump in King Snake:

Now that, my friends, is a shoe!

I can tell it’s an absolutely perfect resort collection, because I can already hear the samba music playing on the beach just looking at these beauties. Nab your favorites now!

friday finds

Welcome to the weekend, friends! I fully planned on taking today off (really, it’s the last week of August…are any of us paying attention right now anyway?), but there was just too much to tell you.

First up, I’m on a boat! I’m in a book! I know, can you believe it? Me neither. But the amazing ladies at CRAVE deemed me worthy, so there I am. I went to the (extremely chic) launch party last night, and saw the book for the first time – it’s a stunner. If you live in Portland, want to visit Portland, or just want to know about a bevy of amazingly talented women who live here (plus me), check out their website to snag a copy.

I’m having a pretty serious Chanel affliction at present (wait…when am I not?). I’m a little late to the game showing you these pre-Fall ads from the house (pre-fall is so July, you know), but I can’t resist. It’s one of my favorite collections of all time – every model looks like a Russian princess. More of these beauties over at my Pinterest page…come visit!

In other very exciting news, Loeffler Randall is on MyHabit today. What else can I possibly say about that, except go…go now.

Speaking of deals, I spotted one of my favorite albums of the summer on Amazon’s $5 list today. If you don’t know Ellie Goulding yet, buy this – something tells me you’ll love it. And maybe Madonna’s Like A Prayer, if you’re one of the six people on the planet (besides me) that doesn’t own it.

That’s it, friends. I hope you have a fantastic weekend in store. I’m taking a train ride with the hubs, my BFF and her adorable son – can’t wait to see his little face get all excited! And, I’ll be playing around with some beads I bought on Etsy last week during a random crafty spree. I’m hoping to build a little something like this or this…I’ll keep you posted.

What do you have planned?

friday finds

Happy Friday, friends? I know you’re ready for the weekend…but how many of you got up early (or stayed up late) to shop the Anniversary Sale this morning? Sadly, I had a very tragic (and upsetting) experience pre-ordering my beloved St. John wrap dress, but I’m happy to report it was still available online this morning, so I circumvented my salesperson and nabbed double points in the process. That’ll show ’em.

Digressions, they plague me…

To get you started for the weekend, a few things that have been making me happy this week:

Summer is always the time of year when I want bright, colorful jewelry, but something that’s still light and easy to wear. I spotted this utterly charming necklace from Nicola Yoon, and have been imagining it with different outfits ever since. It reminds me quite a bit of my beloved Marco Bicego, but not so much as to be upsetting. And it’s about 1/10 the price. Hard to beat that!

I cannot stop thinking about this beautiful Blaise loafer from Loeffler Randall. Every so often, designer Jessie Randall concocts a delight that completely takes over my brain. This is one of those times. Ikat calf hair? Yes, yes, I think so. Now if only it’d go on sale.

I’m having a big jewelry week, apparently. Isn’t this piece from Taylor Kenney wonderful? So unique and eye-catching, but simple and easy to wear. And you know how I love me some druzy action.

And last but not least, I recently made a bargain beauty discovery, and since those are pretty rare in these parts, I had to share. Yes to Carrots! It’s wonderful. I’m particularly smitten with their Intense Repair Body Lotion which has a not-at-all unappealing (and extremely mild) herbal scent, goes on much lighter than my Eucerin standby, absorbs faster and works as well. Oh, and it’s $9.99 at your neighborhood Target. Score!

Now it’s time for a little Friday Finds action from you, my friends. What did you score at the Anniversary Sale? Anything finds you’re especially excited about? I’m dying to know!

eye candy: loeffler randall fall 2011

It’s a Pavlovian mystery of the fashion world, but as soon as summer clothes hit the racks, I start getting ready for fall. It doesn’t help that fashion shows and previews happen six months early, but really, fall is my favorite season for clothes, so…any excuse will do.

As you know, my love affair with Loeffler Randall is strong and deep, and will last a lifetime. But, friends, LR’s Fall 2011 collection is the equivalent of a 9-carat diamond bracelet…it’s making me fall in love all over again.  Seriously, it’s their best collection in ages, and definitely one of my all-time favorites.  The husband is going to have to freeze my credit cards in a block of ice, I fear.

And so, a little eye candy to get you dreaming of (and budgeting for) September:

Sigh. A closet filled with every one of these beauties is so my happy place right now.
