we’re going to be talking a lot about florals in the next couple of weeks…after all, it’s spring, and florals are a perennial stand-by for the season. but this year, the styling is a lot more hip and nontraditional…which i’m loving. these bags are a great case in point. i love the abstract leaf patterns, and they’re a great twist on a classic floral, which can get a little laura ashley. (i do, however, love taking a really traditional floral pattern and mixing it with an ultra-mod design…something along the lines of this fab charlotte ronson dress, or that steven alan top we talked about.)
either of these bags would be a great way to bring a little of that hot spring floral into your life – i’d add one to a winter-friendly ensemble like slacks and a blouse to warm things up a bit. your choice: left is marni, $600 at net-a-porter; right is hayden-harnett, $49.99 at target.
so, which one would you choose: luxe or less?
since we had a cheap thrill yesterday, i thought you might forgive me for an insanely expensive thrill today. but truly, can i just say that if i were to come into $2,500 suddenly, it would take me about 45 seconds to complete the ordering process for this beautiful vigo bag from anya hindmarch?
this amazing bag just does absolutely everything right. the python is glossy and perfectly puffy, and while the shoulder strap dresses it up, the navy shade (it’s shown here in black, but you can see the navy at anya’s website) keeps it young and fresh. and i love the chain detail on the strap, but even more, i love that the part that actually touches your shoulder is leather – much more comfortable. plus, python is notoriously lightweight, so it’s back-friendly too.
i’ve been craving an exotic bag for at least a year now…and honestly, this is as close to perfection as i’ve ever seen. if you’re in love as well, you can pick up the black version at net-a-porter…but for the navy, you’re going to have to take it up with anya’s stores. they say they’re only shipping it within the EU, but i’m betting it’s at least worth a call to their new york showroom to see if they could work something out.
yes, i’m still coveting an anya hindmarch bag. and i do think it’ll be my next serious splurge in the handbag department…her bags are fabulous because they’re impeccable in every way, yet don’t take themselves too seriously.
the latest addition to the anya hindmarch family is the perry bag – i passed this one over the first few times i saw it, but then i saw the perry being modeled, and readers, all i can say is this bag has serious personality. from a practical standpoint, the colors are as neutral as they get – but in combination, they speak louder than neon. it’s the perfect blend of sophistication and fun, and i just can’t get enough.
the perry does come in solids as well, but really – how could you pass up this stunning tri-tone version? especially when you find out that those black details on the front are actually pony hair. the fun never ends. pick up your fun at net-a-porter, for $1,250.
