I’ve been an admirer of Everlane for the longest time, but it’s been one of those long-distance celeb crushes. You know, I check out their website obsessively, ogle all of the new goodies, and fantasize about which pieces would look best in my closet (hint: all of them). They’re hard to resist – it’s that perfect storm of a small selection, beautifully-designed styles, and unbelievably reasonable prices (thanks to their insistence on keeping an eagle eye on production, which I also happen to love).

So when they emailed to tell me about their new leather collection? My heart skipped a beat, and it’s not just because my crush actually called me! These new leather goods are good, my friends – they’re well-constructed, intelligently designed and built for years of use. 

I’ve been sporting the burgundy Slim Zip wallet for a couple of weeks now, and I fall more in love with it every day. It’s made of that indestructible coated leather, so it will last for ages, and the color is spot-on (not that old-lady burgundy you see too often). The design is thoroughly modern, and those two separated card slots on the other side make it awfully convenient to find my Peets card in a caffeine emergency. And it’s so trim, you can carry it solo without a second thought, or slip it into even the smallest bag or clutch without a problem. Oh! And it’s only $115 – which, as we know, is a serious bargain in the world of wallets. My giant Givenchy wallet is having some serious performance anxiety.

Now that I’ve dipped my toe in, the only question is what I’ll bring home next from Everlane. I can’t help thinking that little Card Case would be a perfect place to stash all of those D-list cards I don’t necessarily want to carry everywhere, and the Ryan tee looks like a big pile of slouchy perfection. Of course, I’ll need to investigate further…
